Circle of Nature
Cast ponderosa bark in Sterling Silver, Sterling Silver Square and round wire, Calico Lace cab. The ponderosa bark is one I picked up a few years ago before the Pine Bark Beetle infestation that killed thousands of the trees in Arizona around 2010. Today you can find no bark that isn't full of holes made by beetles, thus my title “Circle of Nature”. 3x2.5x.25
Reaching
Textured Sterling Silver sheet and wire, mokume gane, Opal cab. The mokume disk is of brass, copper, and fine silver. I made the billet and then once rolled out used a metal burr to carve the pattern. The design represents reaching or stretching for growth. 4x2.25x.25
Renewal
Colbalton Calcite Druzy and Citron cab set on textured Sterling Silver sheet with square and tube comments. I had cut and shaped the Druzy some years ago, but alas it cracked into two pieces. I could never bring my self to throw away that really nice pink stone. This spring I just kept looking and trying to figure out a way to use it and finally it worked to my satisfaction. 1.5x1x.25

Artist's Statement
My work incorporates the cutting and polishing of semi-precious stones, metal fabrication, lost wax casting process, enameling, and learning the lovely art of mokume gane. Uniqueness and organic elements are the hallmarks of my designs. Speed and production are not the motivation, rather the aesthetic form and development of the materials capabilities are the goal.
